Lighthouse Peak was the destination for our first day of hiking.
The canyon is up to 800 feet deep in some places. Here Alan hiked up to see some interesting formations caused by water falling straight down along the sides of the canyon.
We went off-trail for our first geo-caching adventures.

Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo is a really cool State Park. You really don’t expect to find these kind of canyons in the middle of the very flat Texas Panhandle. We stayed several days in the campground at the bottom of the canyon. This is the view from our campsite.
