We diverted off of the Natchez Trace Parkway to visit the Windsor Ruins. We actually took the trailer down a gravel road, through the woods, not knowing how far we were going or what was at the end. We joked about having a long-way to backup if we couldn’t turn around at the Ruins.
This is all that is left after an accidental fire in 1890. The mansion was completed in 1861 and the owner died only a few weeks after it was completed. The site with only the standing columns and iron balustrade was really kind of eerie.
