Our second day in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore we opted to get out and ride our bikes around the Port Oneida Rural Historic District. We stopped by the Visitor Center in Empire first to pick up a map and the Ranger was really enthusiastic about our choice.
It was mostly nicely groomed dirt roads with only one or two big climbs. We stopped at several old farms that were now owned by the Park Service. The buildings were being maintained to some extent but you couldn’t get into any of them.
Our first stop was an unnamed overlook next to the Weaver Farm.
