We finally had some nice weather here in Northern Michigan. The campground is a little crowded but is hasn’t really been a problem. We prefer to have a little more space between us and our neighbors but being close to town made up for the tight quarters. We are close the water, which is another plus.
Today, we rode our bikes into Mackinaw City and visited Fort Michilimackinac. It was a nice historic reconstruction of the original Fort that sat here in the 1700’s. The British moved the Fort to Mackinac Island during the Revolutionary War. Everything that is here now was rebuilt. Tomorrow, we are going to venture out on the Ferry Boat to Mackinac Island where we will visit what remains of the “new” Fort.
We’ve been on the road for just over seven weeks now. I don’t remember this being a big issues the last time we went on an extended trip, but Alan is in serious need of a haircut already. His hair seems to be growing fast in the cool northern weather! He’s still not bad for 45 . . .
